Magnetic Energy and Living Organisms

Electromagnetic energy and living organisms--including the human body--have an important interrelationship.

  • Dr. William Pawluk says it this way, "The human body floats in a sea of magnetic fields - those of the earth, moon, sun and other galactic fields. The body is full of magnetic materials. Every cell and atom of the body is a small magnetic dynamo. The body's fields, which are very tiny, are measured in devices called SQUIDS. The earth's field is 100,000 times or more stronger than the body's. We are so dependent on the earth's fields that astronauts in space for long periods require artificial magnets fields to maintain health."

  • Honey bees, birds, sea turtles and several other species have the ability to perceive the earth's magnetic field and then employ that sense in navigation. Homing pigeons and migrating birds are known to use the earth's magnetic field in navigation. Magnetite crystals have been found in all these organisms--they've also been found in humans.

  • Magnetite is made from iron and manganese. In humans magnetite has been found in the brain, neurons, and magnetic organs such as the pineal gland.

  • The external magnetic fields of the earth provide up to 90% of the energy for living beings such as sharks, sea turtles and cockroaches (the pesky cockroach, for example, has been known to live several months without food).

Surprisingly, up to 30% of the energy humans use comes from external sources such as the Earth's magnetic field.

  • Human magnetism normally comes either internally from human metabolism (oxidative magnetism) or externally from the earth's magnetic fields.

  • The human body does not make sufficient magnetism to sustain life for long periods of time.

For example, a magnetic field had to be added to space craft for the wellbeing of the astronauts.

We may not think of ourselves as electric. Yet, electricity flows through human nerves the same as electricity flows through electric wires. Most of us are aware of the electric impulses in our brains and those that regulate our heartbeat.

  • We're less aware of the fascia system of connective tissues in our bodies (crystalline arrays of collagen fibers).

  • These tissues are piezoelectric. This means they generate electric fields when compressed that's every time the body moves, even when a gland secretes.

  • Sheets of these fascia connectors cover all muscles, organs, and structures of the body. They form a semi-conductive 'electric' network throughout the body.

  • The meridian system runs throughout the fascia. Along this system are many energy centers or trigger points that control or direct bodily functions. Over 1,000 such centers have been identified. They are electric in nature.

Alternative treatment methods such as yoga, homeopathy, massage, chiropractic, magnotherapy and acupuncture all use these points. Dr. Pawluk says that he successfully uses magnets instead of needles on meridian acupuncture points.

There is evidence that the earth's magnetic field has been slowly diminishing over the years. It's decreased 50% during the past 500 to 1,000 years and a full 5% during the past 100 years.

This is further compounded by our environment. Dr. Kyoichi Nakagawa, Director of the Isuzu Hospital in Tokyo believes that the time people spend in buildings and cars reduces their exposure to the natural geomagnetic fields of the earth, and may also interfere with individual health.

Following are some research findings documenting the value of supplemental biomagnetic energy on the body:

  • Researchers at Loma Linda University's School of Medicine in California have found, following studies in sixteen countries with over 1,000 patients, that magnetic energy has been successful in treating chronic pain related to tissues with restricted blood flow. Specifically, they found that:

Magnetic energy helped clear up slow-healing ulcers.

And, in 90 percent of patients tested, it raised blood flow significantly.

  • Researchers at the University of Virginia and Vanderbilt University have studies underway testing the use of magnetic energy in pain management.

Preliminary results have been very encouraging.

  • Several double blind scientific studies have shown the benefits of magnetic energy.

One study conducted with 42 patients with diabetic wounds found that magnetic fields promoted earlier and more pronounced healing. They shortened treatment by an average of 6.2 days.

In another study, 171 white rats had their spinal cord severed. In the 46 control rats the spinal cord scarring did not allow the growth of nervous fibers. Rats exposed to a constant magnetic field had a smooth spinal cord scar that allowed nervous fiber growth across the scar. This resulted in hind paw motility of 56 +/- 4.8% of the treated rats. The control rats did not restore.

A third study 25 patients were treated for osteoarthritis. Some included magnetic fields and some did not. An average improvement of 23-61% occurred in the clinical variables observed with active treatment, while 2-18% improvement was observed in selected variables in placebo treated control patients.

  • An important double-blind 12 month study was conducted by Dr. Shimodaira in the Kouseikai Suzuki Hospitals, Tokyo, Japan. He used typical full-sized mattress pads. Some without magnets and the rest containing 124 permanent ferrite magnets with strengths of 750-950 gauss each.

The total number of subjects was 431 (216 males and 215 females). 375 subjects were given magnetic pads. 56 were given nonmagnetic pads. None of the subjects knew which pad they were sleeping on.

Chief complaints were neck and shoulder pain, lower back pain, general back pain, lower limb pain, insomnia and fatigue.

--Neck and Shoulder pain Of the 66 cases, 47 or 71.2% had positive results (46.9% within 3 days). --Lower back pain Of the 76 cases, 61 or 80.3% had positive results (50.0% within 3 days). --General back pain Of the 31 cases, 25 or 80.7% had positive results (38.7% within 3 days). --Lower limb pain Of the 68 cases, 54 or 79.4% had positive results (54.4% within 3 days), --Insomnia Of the 70 cases, 61 or 87.1% had positive results (64.3% within 3 days). --Fatigue Of the 64 cases, 53 or 82.8% had positive results (57.8% within 3 days).

Overall, 301cases or 80.3% had positive results (53.3% within 3 days and over 70% within 5 days).

Symptoms such as tinnitus, headache, hearing problems, visual disturbances, vertigo, palpitations, perceptive abnormality, motor disturbance, fever, digestive disturbance, cutaneous symptoms and other clinical symptoms to suggest any side affects were totally absent. The functions of the kidney, liver, pancreas, circulatory system and blood pressure were tested for each subject before and after the study. No clinical symptoms were found to indicate any side effects whatsoever.

Just like every other area of nature, the body tries to maintain a delicate internal balance among the various systems and bodily functions.

Generally when bad things happen somewhere in our body it's because the pH balance is acidic, the electric polarity is positive and molecular oxygen is in short supply. Negative magnetic energy helps counteract these conditions.

  • pH balance.

Amino acids and minerals are soluble in an alkaline medium and insoluble in acid one.

In an acidic medium, minerals such as calcium and amino acids are deposited in our joints and arteries causing atherosclerosis.

Electric flow is enhanced in an alkaline medium and inhibited in an acid medium.

A negative magnetic field produces a normal alkaline state.

--In one study, subjects were tested for pH before sleeping on a negative magnetic pad and after arising in the morning. In cases where the pH tested low (6.0 pH) in the evening after a night on the magnetic pad the pH had climbed to 7.3 or greater, which had not occurred without the pad (even though sleep is naturally alkalizing).

  • Positive or negative.

Diseased, infected, and injured tissue can be shown to all be positively charged. The positive energy irritates the body causing a signal to be sent to the brain through the nervous system and the brain in turn returns negative magnetic energy to restore balance and allow healing. This is a natural reflex action.

All goes well unless the positive energy persists (resulting in persistent pain) and/or sufficient negative energy is not available (due to fatigue, environmental interference or unhealthy bodies).

--Dr. Robert Becker, an orthopedic surgeon, performed experiments on broken bones. He found that the charge present when a bone is broken is positive. Shortly thereafter negative energy was sent to the affected area and healing began. He demonstrated that negative magnetic energy is the healing force in the body.

  • Oxygen.

Oxygen is the universal cleanser and purifier.

There is a strong interrelationship between an alkaline medium and oxygen. The presence of molecular oxygen supports an alkaline state and visa versa.

Magnets and electromagnetic devices are used to eliminate pain.

  • A negative magnetic field normalizes the disturbed metabolic functions that cause pain such as swelling of cells (edema), acidity of cells, lack of oxygen to cells and infection.

  • For example, a woman in her seventies had experienced pain and weakness in her left leg for thirty-three years stemming from a blood clot in the groin area. She could not climb stairs without stopping several times due to pain. After twelve months of sleeping on a negative magnetic pad, the woman found that she could walk a long flight of stairs without any pain or weakness in her leg.

  • Two simple ways you can dramatically demonstrate the pain relieving power of negative magnetic fields (when either of these occasions arise) are:

Place a negative magnetic field over a superficial burn which normally blanches the skin and is immediately painful. Within five to ten minutes the pain subsides and with continued treatment the tissue will become completely normal.

Place a negative magnetic field over an insect sting (such as a bee sting) and you will eliminate the swelling and inflammatory reaction that normally occurs.

  • A negative magnetic field encourages sound, energy restoring sleep (observation of professional practitioners).

  • A negative magnetic field applied to the crown of the head during sleep raises the hormone melatonin (fact).

  • A negative magnetic field applied to the crown of the head during sleep raises the hormone growth factor (observation of professional practitioners).

  • A negative magnetic field applied to the top of the head can control the abnormal electrical activity of major mental states, minor emotional stress, and seizures (observation of professional practitioners).

    Healing Properties of Magnetic Energy

THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION, "DOES MAGNETIC ENERGY HEAL?" IS NO--IT RATHER PROVIDES THE ENVIRONMENT FOR THE BODY TO HEAL ITSELF.

Dr. Robert Becker, an orthopedic surgeon, performed some very important experiments about how positive and negative magnetic fields affect the healing of broken bones in the body. He documented his work in his book, The Body Electric.

He measured the magnetic charge when a bone is broken and found it to be positive.

Dr. Becker then demonstrated that the body uses the power of negative magnetic energy as a strong influence in healing broken bones. It's important here to stress that magnetic energy does not heal but rather creates an environment in which the body can better heal itself.

Dr. William H. Philpott, an MD who has successfully treated various ailments with negative magnetic energy. He has documented and published these successes.

  • The treatment of cancer is an example.

In one case, a twenty year old male was diagnosed by traditional techniques to have a glioblastoma which infiltrated the brain tissue so extensively it could not be surgically removed. He was unconscious and incapable of making any response to environmental stimuli. Negative magnets were applied on the back of the head where the tumor had initially started growing. They were continued 24 hours a day. In three days he was able to wiggle his fingers and respond to questions. In three weeks he walked with only the assistance of a walker. One can't say magnetic therapy was the only thing done to this patient, but all persons involved were convinced that magnetic therapy reversed the tumor. He continued for an extended period of time to expose his brain to magnetic field for five hours a day. Three years later he was still well.

Dr. Philpott also documented a case history involving his wife. Under his direction she treated a skin tumor cancer with negative magnetic energy (using permanent magnets). Not only did the tumor disappear but it did so without any scarring.

Positive magnetic fields are stress producing and evoke endorphin (the body's natural pain killer) which, by the way, can be habit forming like morphine. In the short run the pain is reduced faster (from the endorphin) than with a negative field, however, over the long run the negative field is less stressful and more effective.

  • Note the positive magnetic field registers positive in our brains (just like an injury would) and the brain sends negative energy to the area as a reflex to this signal. This results in much faster relief, however, this takes some of the body store of energy and if repeated over time tends to fatigue a person in about eight weeks.

  • A positive magnetic field promotes the growth of all living things including bacteria, virus, fungus and cancer.

  • The positive magnetic field can be used to stimulate neurons.

  • A women who had a benign tumor removed from her spine could not walk without dragging her feet. When Dr. Philpott placed a positive magnetic field over the area where the tumor had been removed, she could walk perfectly. With practice, and with the help of both a positive and negative magnetic field, the neuronal function returned. The positive field stimulated the nonfunctioning neurons and, as a result of the stress message from the positive field to the brain, produced endorphins. After a short (3-5 minute) exposure to the positive field, a negative field was applied to prevent the neurons from becoming overly excited.

Some of the mechanics of permanent magnets follow:

  • The strength of a magnet is measured in units of gauss which measures the intensity of magnetic flux. Every magnetic device has a manufacturer's gauss rating.

  • The actual strength of the magnet at the skin surface is often much less than this number. For example, a 4,000 gauss magnet transmits about 1,200 gauss to the body.

  • Magnets placed in pillows or bed pads will render even lower amounts of field strength at the skin surface, because a magnet's strength quickly decreases with the distance from the subject.

  • The North point of a compass needle points at the negative side of an ordinary flat magnet and South end of the needle points at the positive side.

Various permanent magnets are available with positive and negative sides (the negative side is used over the affected area) from flexible
